As Central Oregon Community College wraps up finals week for the 2025 fall term, students learned important values of work ethic and values. Finals week is a shared experience that all college students can relate to, no matter their field they study. Each student has their own study methods; whether they learn through failure or success, each one brings something valuable to share.
“Definitely don’t go overkill with the studying. You need to take breaks in order for you to retain the information. So, I think you need to have a balance between having relaxing time slash fun time in studying,” said Jack Unitan. (Carson Statham)“It’s really important to not procrastinate. I’m really guilty of that, so it’s tough, but you definitely got to stay on top of things and learn with the class. Don’t push it off, then you have less to study,” said Emilie Kilshaw. (Carson Statham)“The support I get from my boyfriend and my mom helps me understand what I need to get done. Because of my learning disability, I process things differently than I should, and it takes me longer to find the important stuff,” said Logan Cunningham. (Carson Statham)“Just take it one assignment, one studying session, one thing at a time, and eventually you’ll get to where you need to go,” said Athan Sircy. (Carson Statham)“The syllabus has really helped me out. Being able to kind of see when things are and write it in my calendar and pace myself throughout the year to prepare for finals,” said Jade O’Hare-Vlachos. (Carson Statham)“I’ve learned to give myself a structured area and seclude myself from anything that might distract me, like video games or, put my phone away so I’m not texting my friends and make sure that I’m solely focused on what I need to study on. Sometimes that can include going to quiet rooms in the library or the ones that are the ones that are in the dorm buildings,” said Lumi Moore. (Carson Statham)
