Part time job opportunities for students

Due to the pandemic, there may be a heightened number of people searching for jobs.  Although some stores have closed, some are reopening. Students looking for jobs: here are seven places offering jobs during the pandemic.

“We’ve compiled two lists of employers that are hiring—the first is made up of employers who have reached out to our team here at Indeed about current job opportunities available at their organizations, and the second is generated by Indeed data reflecting companies that have recently posted on Indeed,” says a recent posting.

Not all of these companies are hiring in Central Oregon, but the ones that are include:

  1. U.S. Army.

The U.S. army is mainly looking for patient administration specialists, financial management technicians and many other positions that require a lot of dedication. There are 622 openings in both Bend and Redmond. Keep in mind, though, that getting these jobs may not be easy.

“Job training for a patient administrations specialist requires 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training and seven weeks of Advanced Individual Training, including practice in various office functions,” according to

On the bright side, students who are qualified in the army receive annual stipends for living, merit-based scholarships and other long-term awards. The pay range is about $25,000-$70,000 a year for these positions.

  1. Home Depot

Home Depot is offering positions in customer service, merchandising, freight/receiving, delivering and more. There are 20 job openings in both Bend and Redmond. Associates will learn from their supervisors and assist customers on the job.

“Associates in this position will learn how to greet, qualify, recommend and close every customer in their department and know how to handle basics in adjacent departments,” according the Home Depot website.

  1. Chipotle

Chipotle is hiring restaurant team members on the north side of Bend. Chipotle has two positions available. Chipotle makes all their food fresh. There is no need to worry about storing food in freezers on the job. Chipotle also doesn’t require any experience.

“We’ll provide the training you need to feel confident working at any station grill, cashier, prep, salsa, and expo,” according to the Chipotle company site.

  1. Harbor Freight Tools

Harbor Freight Tools is mostly hiring retail associates. There are 4 job openings in Bend. One of which is a supervisor position. This 40-year-old company provides tools and accessories to customers. No matter what pandemic occurs, Harbor Freight Tools is always looking for people to hire.

“Our associates (part-time) support the leadership team through operational execution and delivery of a rewarding experience,” according to the Harbor Freight Tools website.

  1. Lowe’s

Lowe’s is hiring cashiers, retail associates and many other positions in the Bend area. There are currently 20 job openings in both Bend and Redmond.

  1. AutoZone

In terms of part time positions, AutoZone is in need of delivery drivers and retail associates. There are eight positions available in Bend, the others are full time positions.

  1. Walgreens

Walgreens is staying open during the pandemic. Walgreens is hiring customer service associates and pharmacy technicians. There are 5 positions open for application in Bend.

There are many places that are hiring in Central Oregon during this pandemic. Other helpful websites to look for jobs are LinkedIn and Craigslist. As stores remain open, new workers are always desired. Now is the best time to go for it and apply if students are looking for a job.
