One thing that is shared amongst many of Central Oregon Community College’s student body is the love of nature and being outdoors! As we enter into our winter equinox and the seasons dramatically change, so do our surroundings. Not only does our sun enter a state of hibernation, but so do many outdoor critters! As many of us walk around campus nowadays, you can be greeted with the peaceful presence of deer passing by, flocks of majestic birds soaring above, and our favorite campus chipmunks who all reside in the rocky frisbee trails.
More and more of our outdoor creature friends have found creative ways to stay warm through the winter. In fact, you may notice the next time you are walking to Central Oregon Community College’s Coats Campus, there is a whole neighborhood of feathered blue-tailed friends living in our walls! You may even see that these bright colored guys have a whole working society of seven nests overlooking our beautiful track and field. What a beautiful sunset they must get every morning! They are hard at work every day, and if you’re lucky, you may even spot them in action feeding their young, teaching them to fly, and following the way of bird life!
