25th annual turkey and third annual toddler trot race at COCC

Central Oregon Community College’s 25th annual Turkey and third annual Toddler Trot, took place on Nov. 9, 2024. Had a decent number of participants. Even COCC’s mascot, Bob the bobcat participated in the Toddler Trot race. Some of the runners who also participated in the Turkey Trot were part of the Girls on the Run organization.

COCC’s Turkey Trot consisted of a 5 kilometer, or 3.1-mile run / walk throughout the Bend Campus, and the Toddler Trot, consisted of the length of the Mazama Athletic Field. The COCC Turkey Trot benefits, students through a scholarship fundraiser, which is run through the COCC Foundation.

Joaquim (Jo) Alvarez is an editor for The Broadside who is studying communications, and journalism at Central Oregon Community College. During the past winter and spring terms, Alvarez has worked as a reporter, a photographer and a graphic designer for The Broadside. Prior to this, Alvarez has worked as a graphic designer for a local newspaper (The Bulletin) in the advertising department, and as a web and graphic designer for a local marketing company.

Madeline Bell is a staff photographer for The Broadside. She enjoys photography and writing and has had experience with journalism through three years of high school yearbook. Bell is a communications major and hopes to transfer after she is done at COCC. Outside of school, she enjoys skiing, camping, hiking and exploring new places throughout the Pacific Northwest.
