Central Oregon gained a new cultural hub with the recent opening of the Bendite Market. This international market offers a diverse selection of food and ingredients from around the world, giving residents and visitors the opportunity to experience new cuisines and cultures.
Owner David Sayidi said, “Our goal is to bring something of variety to Bend, since we’ve never had an international market in Central Oregon. The plan was to bring something new for the community, and to share international goodies with everybody.” The market is located in the west side of Bend, on the ground floor of The Hixon apartment building.
The shelves are stocked with snacks, drinks and staple ingredients, providing a one-stop-shop for those looking to explore flavors from over 35 countries, including areas of the Middle East, Asia and Europe.
“People can expect a lot of different varieties of international products here, no other stores have it around Central Oregon. We receive new shipments everyday so there’s a lot coming to look forward to,” Sayidi said.
According to Sayidi, the response from the community is one of the most exciting parts of the new market.
“People are excited to experience a market with different options than what is typically found in Bend, it’s been amazing to watch,” he continued.
When asked what Sayidi recommends from the market, he said, “There’s a lot in the market to try and there’s gonna be more coming in the next few weeks to try. I would recommend any of the assorted international cookies and beverages such as Turkish coffee and bubble tea.”
The Bendite Market is located at 210 SW Century Dr. suite 105 in Bend.
