The new Madras campus administrator comes with a passion for helping students in rural communities.
Last month, Jeremy Green became the new Campus Administrator for Central Oregon Community College’s Madras Campus to replace previous administrator Courtney Snead.
“Courtney Snead, having served in this position for the past three years has created a great foundation and platform for me to begin in this position,” said Green, “I desire to carry the torch she started and work to build upon the successes she and the current staff, students and faculty have had.”
As the new administrator, Green will be responsible for providing COCC course offerings to students in Madras and Jefferson County and providing community outreach services to help meet student and community educational goals.
Having previously worked as an Associate Professor in the College of Public Health and Human Sciences at Oregon State University and for the OSU Extension office, Green was looking for a smaller, more community oriented position.
“I desired to work for an educational institution that had a more direct connection to rural communities,” Green said. “COCC’s branch campuses in both Madras and Prineville offer immense opportunities for students in rural communities to receive access to pursuing their educational goals and I desire to help make that a reality.”
Through this new position, Green hopes “to create an inclusive and inviting environment on the COCC Madras Campus where students will feel comfortable taking classes, working alongside all our staff, and where they will receive access and information to the variety of student services offered by COCC.”
For the coming year, Green said he is most excited about “being present, meeting students, working to create an environment where students succeed and getting to know the community at-large.”
