The High Desert Museum in Bend allows visitors to delve into the high desert region’s history, culture, and wildlife. One of the events the museum puts on is College Night. On December 14th, college students have free admission when they show a college ID. Admission usually costs $10.00 per person.
The Broadside spoke with Heidi Hagemeier, Director of Communications and Visitor Experience.
“The High Desert Museum is here to serve our community with the utmost care. In doing so, we want all guests to feel welcome and at home,” said Hagemeier.
“We do these events so people have a place to relax and unwind, such as at our Rimrock Cafe, or explore our multiple exhibits, such as our Native exhibit. We know people have busy lives, and knowing that we can hopefully help ease that can make all the difference.”
When asked about the takeaways she wants people to have from the museum, she said, “I want the community to feel an innate awe when they walk through these doors. I want them to feel at peace here and to enjoy a trip down memory lane. Most importantly, I want people to have fun. This museum is a wonderful place to be, and I’m so excited to share it with others over this holiday season’s festivities.”
