Aaron Rodgers threw 304 yards and three touchdowns to overcome a furious second half rally by the Steelers in Super Bowl 45 allowing the Green Bay Packers to defeat the Steelers 25-31 in Arlington Texas.
Rodgers came into Cowboys Stadium looking to win the Packers’ first Super Bowl trophy since Brett Favre’s win 14 years ago against the New England Patriots.
The Steelers came to the Super Bowl looking for an unprecedented seventh ring and the second under head coach Mike Tomlin.
During the trophy presentation, the Super Bowl’s most valuable player Rodgers could not keep a smile from breaking across his face as he held the Lombardi Trophy.
“This is a great group of men,” said Rodgers. “A lot of character.Been through a lot together. It’s just great being able to share it with them.”
After his post-game speech, Rodgers paid homage to his “championship title belt’ celebration by breaking out a World Wrestling Federation championship belt alongside the Lombardi trophy.
“It’s a great day to be great,” said receiver Greg Jennings during the post game.
