As winter carries on, getting out of the house can be a bit of a challenge. Check out these unique locations around town to help you beat cabin fever.


Tin Pan Theater      (

  • Located in Tin Pan Alley downtown, this single-screen theater seats 28 people and offers an eclectic mix of movies not shown in traditional theaters. Tin Pan is truly a hidden gem, that some call Bend’s best-kept secret.

Art & Wine Oh My!      (

  • Designed for all skill levels, this sip and paint venue is a perfect place for an evening with friends. The BYOB policy makes it a fun place for all ages.

Deschutes Historical Museum      (

  • Built in 1914, the Deschutes Historical Museum was originally Reid School. The building has been turned into a museum to educate visitors and locals about the history of Central Oregon.

Jackson’s Corner      (

  • If you want a good meal and to hear some local music, Jackson’s Corner is the place for you. This Italian restaurant offers housemade pasta, pizza, salads, and more with both small and large community tables.

McMenamins Old St. Francis Theater      (

  • This theater is part of a hotel converted from a Catholic schoolhouse. With comfortable seating and food nearby, McMenamins is an affordable place to see a movie no longer playing in a traditional theater.

Oregon Observatory at Sunriver      (

  • Away from the bright lights of the city, the Sunriver Observatory is the perfect place for stargazing. The observatory offers the largest collection of telescopes available to the public in the country. Students also get in for free.

The Lot       (

  • If the traditional restaurant experience is not for you, hit up The Lot, Bend’s first food-cart pod. The pod offers covered seating and weekly entertainment such as open mic and trivia nights.

Earth Fire Art      (

  • You don’t need to be an art major to create memories with some friends. At Earth Fire Art, you choose a piece of pottery to paint and they will glaze and fire it for you for to pick up within a week.

Worthy Brewing      (

  • The only brewery on the east side, Worthy is a multi-faceted experience. The brewery is complete with a bar, restaurant, and soon an observatory.

Lava River Cave      (

  • Come May, Lava River Cave will be a great addition to your summer bucket list. The hike is relatively easy, but come prepared with good shoes and a jacket.
