COCC hosts Color Mysteries/Abstract Fantasies exhibit
COCC Press Releases
Central Oregon Community College is hosting “Color Mysteries and Abstract Fantasies,” an art exhibit of the photography by Natasha Bacca and abstract art by Ed Endsley. The exhibit is on display at the Barber Library Rotunda Gallery on the COCC Bend campus. The exhibit continues through Nov. 30.
Bacca, a COCC art instructor, explores light, combining contemporary and archaic processes to push the bounds of conventional photography. In 2010, she was selected as the Jubelale artist
for Deschutes Brewery. A patent has been granted for the process by which she creates her art.
Endsley’s works reveal his search to discover beauty and inspiration with painting and photography by capturing contrast in form and bright outrageous color. He blends his artistic sensibility and his engineering background to create unusual and surprising views in this series of abstract forms. He says that these images were conceived in happiness and excitement and are presented for viewers’ pleasure.

COCC students plan ‘Castle of Cans’ benefit
COCC Press Releases
Central Oregon Community College students in an event planning class will be hosting “Castle of Cans,” an event to benefit NeighborImpact, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec.2, at the Tower Theatre in downtown Bend.
The students’ goal is to make a difference in the lives of others, one can at a time, while they learn firsthand how to plan events, according to Maeve Perle, the instructor of the class.
The students will be constructing a large citadel from donated cans of food. Canned food items as well as monetary donations will be accepted Friday evening. NeighborImpact is a private, nonprofit organization established to serve economically disadvantaged people in Central Oregon.
Coinciding with the downtown “First Friday” Art Walk, the event also features continuous showings of the holiday film “Christmas Every Day,” carols by the Central Oregon Mastersingers
and light refreshments for participating patrons courtesy of COCC’s Cascade Culinary Institute.
The animated comedy, “Christmas Every Day,” will start at 5:30 p.m. and repeat every 30 minutes through 8 p.m. Between showings, members of the Central Oregon Mastersingers will perform familiar Christmas carols, including the “Bring a Torch, Jeannette Isabella,” and “Lo, How a Rose E’er Blooming.”

ASCOCC approves club request
The Broadside
The Associated Students of Central Oregon Community College voted to recognize the Crafter’s Guild as a club at their Nov. 7 meeting.
The request was originally made during the Oct. 24 meeting by COCC student Maggie Skyler, also the founding member of the volunteer club. The issue was tabled so ASCOCC members
could research the possibility of a student starting two different clubs.
The request met unanimous approval.
