Photo Gallery: How are students around COCC preparing for finals week?

All around the Central Oregon Community College Bend campus, there is a hustle and bustle in the air that happens every term around finals week. Six students were interviewed to gather insights on how they are preparing for their upcoming finals. Each student shared their unique strategies and approaches to ensure success during this challenging period, from baking tasty treats, procrastination, journaling, fun activities, long nights and the art of just making it.

These students’ various approaches reflect the diversity of study techniques and highlight the importance of finding a personalized method that suits each individual’s learning style and academic goals. By incorporating effective strategies tailored to their needs, these students are preparing for their upcoming finals.

“I’m going to all these amazing events around COCC right now. Such as Pet-A Pup therapy, having soup on Monday, and even having Red Bull. I try not to stress about finals too much; I like to destress before them. I like getting a lot of sleep, rest, and food. I also like to give myself breaks in between. Hang out with friends and keep doing my thing,” said Hayden Kucy. (Hannah Evenson)
“I’m going to stop procrastinating and grind it out this weekend, get it all out of the way, and then will be able to go for finals week,” said Landon Carrington. (Hannah Evenson)
“I like using a planner to help me stay motivated and more organized. I feel like I get much more accomplished when I have everything planned for that week,” said Lucy McKay. (Hannah Evenson)
“Tonight, I was going to start studying to get on top of my finals. I’m going to also prepare by studying every day. Whether I do it or not remains to be seen,” said Steven Sheehy. (Hannah Evenson)
“To be honest, I’m not doing very well. I plan on doing better in the future, but this term is not it for me,” said Jacob Fox. (Hannah Evenson)
“I like making a ton of goodies. Specifically marshmallows. Hot chocolate is the best thing to have during finals,” said Felix Fernandez. (Hannah Evenson)
