Thanksgiving is coming up, but it might not be easy for every Central Oregon Community College student or staff member to provide themselves or their loved ones with a proper holiday dinner. In that case, those in need are in luck. Each year, the Associated Students of Central Oregon Community College (ASCOCC) provides Thanksgiving meals to go for those that need a proper dinner for the holiday.
In order to reserve a meal, you must pre-register by this Friday, November 19, and that can be done by using this link. Meals will be available for pickup on Monday, November 22 through Wednesday, November 24 at the ASCOCC office, which is located in Coats Campus Center.
Darcy Hays, ASCOCC President, stated that “after registering you will receive an email with which campus you’ll be picking [your kit] up from.”
With donations from faculty and staff across campus along with a voucher for a turkey from a local grocery store, these kits will contain everything one might need for a full traditional Thanksgiving dinner. According to Hays, kits will include turkey and food basket vouchers from Grocery Outlet, Food 4 Less or WinCo Foods.
Other items that you can pick up using the vouchers include green beans, ham and additional side dishes that are enjoyed on Thanksgiving. Hays had also stated that ASCOCC has been continuing to provide free Thanksgiving meal kits for almost ten years now.
