Ian Scott Hilliard
June 29,1995 – May 19, 2016
Ian Scott Hilliard passed away suddenly at his home on the morning of May 19, 2016, in Bend, Oregon; Ian was 20 years old. Ian was born on June 29, 1995, in Dover, Delaware, to Bruce and Kathy (Thaldorf) Hilliard.
He graduated from Lake Forest High School in Felton, Delaware, and then continued his education at Delaware Technical Community College in Georgetown, Delaware and Central Oregon Community College in Bend, Oregon. Ian was working toward a degree in Manufacturing Technology. He worked at Driving Force Graphics and Cutting Edge Design, both in Bend, Oregon.
Ian attended the Christian Life Center briefly in Bend but was an active member of Independent Bible Fellowship Church in Harrington, Delaware for much of his life. Ian was involved in Boy Scouting for much of his life and attained the rank of Eagle Scout in June 2013. He was active as a leader in numerous positions at Boy Scout Troop 24 in the town of Wyoming, Delaware. Ian is a life member of The National Eagle Scout Association.
Ian enjoyed many outdoor activities especially mountain biking. His other hobbies included camping, hiking, road cycling, and he was an avid Formula One car racing fan.
Ian’s laughter and unique personality made him a joy to be around. Ian was a generous soul: When help was needed, Ian was one of the first to offer. When a friend needed a shoulder to cry on, Ian was there.
Ian is survived by his parents, brother David Hilliard (wife Naomi); Uncles Gary Hilliard, Charles Hilliard (wife Barbara), Donald Hilliard (wife Patricia); Aunt Karen Blum (husband Tom); Niece Lydia Talitha Hilliard; and his girlfriend, Leah Marie Alford.
Ian is preceded in death by Grandparents Donald Ray and Dorothy Jean Hilliard, and Jack M. and Helen Ruth Thaldorf; and Aunts Patricia (Thaldorf) Carr, Beverly (Thaldorf) Burde and Debora (Kabat) Hilliard. A Celebration of Life Service was held at Christian Life Center in Bend, Oregon on Friday, June 10, 2016.
