Central Oregon Community College celebrated its 50th anniversary of the opening of the Bend campus.
Interim President Dr. Shirley Metcalf alongside Director of College relations Ron Paradis stood outside the campus center and gave out cake to commemorate the mile stone.
“Celebrating 50 years on this campus is amazing,” Metcalf said, “its great for the campus, the students and the community.”
Fifty after initially opening, the campus has seen growth in many areas, according to Paradis.
“If you think back to when we [COCC] started there was only 800 students and 35 faculty. Now, the school is up to 6,000 students and the campus has gone on to do great things.” Paradis said.
