A 23-year-old woman reported being raped on Feb. 25 by Thomas Harry Bray, a parttime COCC instructor who she met on an online dating site.
The victim agreed to meet him for a drink in downtown Bend. They then went back to Bray’s apartment where the victim reported that the rape took place between 8 p.m. to
12 a.m.
The victim was assaulted during the course of the incident and received several non life threatening injuries according to Bend police.
Bray was arrested and is charged with two counts of rape, two counts of sodomy, assault IV, menacing and strangulation according to Bend police.
Ron Paradis, COCC’s media relations director, thought that Bray had taught his class the day after the alleged crime occurred.
Bray taught anatomy and physiology class on Saturdays. There will be another instructor to fill in.
The registrar of John’s Hopkins University confirmed that a Thomas Harry Bray was part of their home staff in 2001 and then was an instructor from 2005-2008. There was nothing negative on his records or any indication as to why he moved on.
Bray is certified with the American Board of Anesthesiology through March 31, 2016. Last known address for Bray according to their website is Palo Verde, CA.
According to Lexis Nexis, Bray has lived at 15 different addresses since 1999.
The Bend Police Department is requesting anyone who has had similar contacts or suspicious encounters with Bray to report these incidents to police.
