The in-person Beat Beethoven’s 5th 5K and 1 mile have been canceled but it’s going to be a virtual event instead.
Helen Jones, the race organizer, said that this year is going to be the 7th annual Beat Beethoven’s 5th race.
The idea is to run the 5K faster than Beethoven’s 5th Symphony, which is 33 minutes.
You can win a blue ribbon if you run faster than 33 minutes, and a red ribbon if you run/walk slower than 33 minutes, and if you run the 1-mile you get a green ribbon.
Ribbons and bibs will be emailed to everyone who has registered.
For COCC students and staff, register here and use code BB21 for a $10 registration.
All proceeds “benefit the Central Oregon Symphony,” said Jones.
Runners/walkers can send in times, photos, and videos (less than 30 seconds), to this email [email protected]. The top 10 times in the 5K, still photos and videos will be posted on the race website. You can send in times, photos, and videos between Oct. 1-14th.
If you are not a runner or don’t want to walk, you can support the symphony in a different way. The Central Oregon Symphony’s fall concert will be held at the Bend Senior High School on October 24. There will be one at 2:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
