There have been a lot of people effected by the ongoing COVID-19 crisis. People have lost their jobs, lost their homes and some people have even lost their lives.
To combat this problem, Congress recently passed the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, which gave money to colleges and universities who have been effected by the ongoing crisis.
Central Oregon Community College was awarded $3,183,671 dollars in which 50 percent of the money will be distributed to students that are affected by COVID-19. Awards range from $525 to $1,025 dollars.How the money is being distributed is by whether or not a student’s family is currently contributing to their family member’s education or not. As you can see from the chart below, how much a student’s family contributes, dictates how much money the student get. 
The rest of the funds, according to COCC’s website, is available as additional student aid or to support institutional operations impacted by COVID-19.
