BendNights.com is flexing the funny bone once more with their second official Bend Comedy Competition – also known as the BCC. This year’s Comedy Competition promises to top that of last years, the first official competition.
‘The semi Finals show sold out so fast last year, a lot of people that wanted to attend, couldn’t. So we fixed that by moving the Semi-Finals to the Tower. Problem solved,’ posted event producer Sean McCann on BendNights.com
The BCC will take place April 14th – April 17th with preliminary events at 900 Wall Restaurant and Bar and semi-final and final events at the Tower Theatre. Events at 900 Wall begin at 9pm on the 14th and 15th and events at Tower Theatre begin at 8pm on the 16th and 17th.
The event is a nationally recognized competition in which 16 national headlining comedians will be competing for a grand prize of $2000, a hand blown glass trophy donated by sponsor PeaPod Glass, as well as a chance to perform at Parlor Live Comedy Club in Bellevue, Washington.
“Everybody’s got credentials,” said second event producer Morgan Preston. “All of [the comedians] have been on TV, the radio, or film in the past. They’re all major headliners.”
According to the BendNights.com website, The Parlor Live Comedy Club is one of the West Coast’s premier comedy venues. Event producers hand selected judges, one of whom is Parlor Live Club Owner Reuben Buck of Seattle, Washington. McCann and Preston interviewed candidates for the judge’s panel and came up with the following selections:
On the Semi-Finals judge panel will be Kate Paul – Miss Oregon USA 2010 and News Channel 21 Reporter, Tim Williams – partner at Dwyer, Williams, Potter Attorneys, and Thaddeus Petterson – Owner and artist at PeaPod Glass. On the Finals judge panel will be Dave Clemens – radio DJ on his show Dave Clemens in the Morning on The Peak 104.1, Jim Murray – Sports Director also from News Channel 21, and formerly mentioned Reuben Buck.
Tickets may be purchased for each individual event at Ranch Records, the Tower Theatre, or on the BendNights.com website via PayPal. The website noted that different service charges may apply at each of the ticketing venues – there is a $1.50 service fee per ticket to order online – and that tickets purchased online through BendNights.com will be waiting at will Call, at the event venue, on the show date. It’s requested that you bring your PayPal receipt and the name used when purchasing the tickets.
There is also a ‘BCC Pass’ available at a reduced price that gets you into every show along with a BCC shirt and autographed event poster. Tickets and pass holders must check in at least 30 minutes prior to show to guarantee seating. Seats not filling 30 minutes prior to show may be sold to another guest.
BendNights.com plans to keep doing the Bend Comedy Competition every year with a new set of 16 comedians each time. There are also plans in the works to take the competition to Hawai’I, Bellevue, and Wasington.
