On June 3, Central Oregon Community College issued a Clery Act Timely Warning Notice after a female individual was reportedly physically assaulted on the Bend Campus in the early morning of June 3. According to an email sent out by the school, the victim reported being struck over the head by an unknown assailant. The suspect fled the scene and has not been identified at this time.
Local law enforcement is actively investigating the case. The Bend Police Department is asking anyone with information related to the assault to come forward. Tips can be directed to the department’s non-emergency number 541-693-6911.
In compliance with the Clery Act-a federal statute that mandates transparency around university and college campus crimes-COCC released this warning to ensure safety and raise awareness of its Bend campus community.
Bend PD and COCC officials are advising students, staff and faculty to exercise increased caution. Specifically to remain alert and aware of your surroundings. Walk in well-lit areas, avoid isolated locations when possible, and report any suspicious activity immediately.
