Shevlin Park in Bend, Oregon, was a destination for students who wanted to celebrate Earth Day. The park was opened in 1921 and is just over a mile away from Central Oregon Community College (COCC). Jack Lougeay, a community assistant at COCC, decided it would be a great place to go to celebrate Earth Day. So Lougeay invited students from the Wickiup Hall to go on a hike at Shevlin Park. Unfortunately, only one student could make it to the event, but that allowed them to enjoy the park’s beauty a little better. Even after snow, rain, and hail. Lougeay said,
“I had fun and would do it again. I hope to create more events like this in the future and that more people would be able to come.”
