COCC’s nursing program has a strong reputation for preparing its students through a combination of a well-developed class curriculum and the use of hands-on training in partnership with local organizations. This year, they had originally planned for a few students to help out at the Redmond Hospital, but due to a COVID-19 outbreak at the hospital, the students were no longer able to go there for training.
But they soon found another opportunity.
After a few weeks of vaccination training, the COCC nursing students assisted the Deschutes County Health Services to deliver the COVID-19 vaccine on February 3rd. The vaccinations took place at the Deschutes County Health Services building on NE Courtney Drive, and countless Deschutes County Health Services workers, police officers, doctors, and other individuals were vaccinated by the COCC nursing students over the course of the morning.
