Despite COVID and other changes to traditions this year, the Associated Students of Central Oregon Community College (ASCOCC) will still be giving away free Thanksgiving meals to students who registered for a meal bag.
Registration for these meal bags was open until Nov. 20; however, the reservations filled up much faster. According to Savanna Podell, the director of student affairs, ASCOCC is not planning on taking any more food bag requests.
For students who have already registered or are interested in what would be included, Podell said that, “Students can expect a typical Thanksgiving meal [including] turkeys, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, green beans, etc.”
She also said they are doing their best to accommodate any allergies students may have.
Students who have registered for the food baskets can head to their nearest COCC campus, where a small number of volunteers will assemble and distribute the meals.
All necessary COVID safety precautions will be taken to ensure this event as safe as possible.
