Staying active and healthy is essential in these times of the COVID-19 virus, and that is why the Club and Intramural Sports department at Central Oregon Community College is hosting this year’s 25th annual Jungle Run, which takes place July 24 and 25.
Usually, this event would occur on COCC’s campus, where students, staff and community members would walk/run for 2 or 4 miles. However, due to COVID-19 restrictions, the Jungle Run will be held remotely.
If students would like to participate in this year’s Jungle Run, see the information below from the Club and Intramural Sports department:
1. Register.
2. Report Your Miles and photos: You can run/walk as many miles as you like. The person who reports the most miles in the two days gets bragging rights as the winner of this year’s Jungle Run. We will tally the total number of miles we run as a community to see our unified accomplishment! The goal is to beat the 100 miles we ran as a group for “Storm The Stairs.” This link also can upload photos of your running route, your stairs, or yourself (or tag us in your photos on social media).
3. Log Your Movement Time in the 2020 Recreation Movement: “Sign Up” with your @cocc.edu email and click “log movement.” COCC is currently 6th in the Nation, in partnership with NIRSA, Instagram, TikTok, and over 100 other Colleges and Universities! The “Storm The Stairs” race last month moved us from 11th place into 7th, and we are hoping we can overtake Stanford in 5th place with everyone logging their movement time from this “Jungle Run!” #COCCBobcats #RecAtHome
4. T-Shirts: Due to limited resources, we are only able to provide Jungle Run T-Shirts free for students, and we will not have prizes this year. Staff, faculty, and community members can purchase our new race t-shirt at our online store.
