A new 49-acre property is being developed for Central Oregon Community College. A campus village home is being built on the corner of NW Shevlin Park Road and Mt. Washington Drive, across from the Jungers Culinary Center. Construction for the project began on March 4.
“The initial phase of the Outcrop neighborhood-named for a preserved section of basalt outcroppings on the East Borders of the lots-will be made up of 16 family homes, many with accessory dwelling units,” according to the COCC Campus Village Project Web Page.
There will also be a 12-acre parcel on the southwest corner of the Campus Village. COCC will keep its status as the rightful owner of outcrop. Eventually, when more people are interested in the property, COCC will lease the property to homeowners.
The first 16 homes will be built on the first five acres of land, while the remain seven will have to wait until the houses from the first phase are built and sold to homeowners. The real estate agency selling the houses is Harcourts Garner Group Real Estate.
The campus project’s home builder is Curtis Homes. Curtis homes have completed previous construction in the northwest crossing including Tetherow and Aubrey Butte. The campus project’s master developer is William Smith Properties Inc. This master developer for Bend is responsible for the construction of the Les Schwab Amphitheater and the Old Mill District.
“The Campus Village Project, on land leased from COCC, expects to provide a steady and reliable income stream for the College,” according to the COCC Campus Village Project Web Page.
COCC is still considering future development opportunities during the initial project’s construction.
