COCC has advertised a “Stress Free Finals” week consisting of community-based self-care events, before exams begin on Monday June 6th.

The events are hosted by COCC Barber Library, ASCOCC and Student Life.

The Spring “Stress Free Finals” events are listed as free coffee and snacks for students, the Student Showcase held by COPE Psychology Club on the upper part of the Bend Campus, “Pet-A-Pup” therapy dogs, Mazama gym’s Storm the Stairs exercise event, and Barber libraries extended hours of operation for students to study over the weekend of June 5th, with free coffee and snacks included.

There are events scheduled to take place across all COCC campuses, in Bend, Redmond, Madras and Prineville.

The Student Showcase, which occurs each term the week before finals, is the large-scale, community based event held on the Bend campus through COPE Psychology Club.

The Student Showcase occurs each term at COCC and is focused on a specific theme to bring the community together and to show support and admiration for all departments and students on campus.

The Student Showcase for Spring term is scheduled to occur on Wednesday, June 1st from 4-8 pm at the Upper Campus Quad.

The theme this spring for the Student Showcase is “Nostalgia”, as Oscar Tovar, a student leader of the Psychology Immersion Experience (PIE), has shared details on.

“We’re essentially aiming to do a blast from the past… We thought it would be a rather fun idea.. [so] each building has its own decade.”

Tovar also stated that along with each building on upper campus having its own theme as a specific decade, each building will have “trivia from each decade, as well as music from each [decade]….[to focus on] just celebrating the past.”

The Student Showcase is a free event and is open to friends and family of students as well.

There are scheduled to be “Pet-A-Pup” therapy dogs at the Student Showcase in Jefferson 101 from 4-7 pm on June 1st and also in Barber library on June 2nd from 12-2 pm on the first floor.

“Pet-A-Pup” therapy dogs will also be on the Redmond campus on May 31st in the Tech Center lobby from 10 am to noon.

The Storm the Stairs event is scheduled for June 2nd at 5:30 pm and is to occur on the Bend campus hosted by Mazama gym on the track.

Storm the Stairs is open to all members of the community with a charge of $15 per non COCC student attendees.

There is also an option that is based on donations, via the link listed below.
