The brand new Ski and Snowboard Club at Central Oregon Community College is ready for the slopes.

Headed by Nicholas Wolf and Brady James who founded the club last Spring, this club is for anyone and everyone who subscribes to the high speed sports.

Nicholas Wolf has been snowboarding for 13 years and is the former president of the Diablo Valley Snowboard and Ski Club. James, a former member of Oregon State’s snowboard club, has been skiing for almost 15 years.

“It’s a way for people who love snowboarding and skiing to come together and develop new friends, make new memories and have a lot of fun,” says Wolf.

Wolf and James have many plans in store for the new club which will require a $10 membership potentially including trips to Mt. Hood and Mt. Bachelor, private parties, back-country trips around the Willamette Pass as well as an event called the “Pow Pow Car Bash” with COCC’s Drum Circle Club. More information to come in November.

Wolf and James have an idea to film all the ski and snowboard trips the club will take in a documentary for the club members to watch at the end of the year.

“No matter what, this club will be around”, said James, pointing to the fact that he and Wolf will be putting up some of their own money to pay for all of the events. “We want this to be a way for students to relieve some of the stresses of class and work by doing something fun.”

Student Activites Coordinator Taran Underdal would rather see more free membership clubs popping up she said that Wolf
and James were not in violation of any rules by requiring a membership fee.
