Art exhibit continues at COCC

“K-12 Visual Eye-zations” is an art show sponsored by the Central Oregon Curriculum Action Team (CAT) allowing elementary,  middle and high school students around Central Oregon to showcase their artwork, according to Pat Roberts, the Pinckney Arts gallery organizer.

The artwork is displayed in the Pinckney Gallery in Grandview. The pieces on display are for sale from $30 to $200. The exhibit  began on Feb. 8 and will continue to showcase the artwork until Feb. 24.

Local band to play at ASCOCC sponsored event

The student government will be presenting a “Country Night” at Mountain’s Edge bar on Thursday, Feb. 24.

The event will feature local band Pine Lane, and if students bring their Central Oregon Community College ID the bar will offer happy
hour prices on food all night.

Since it is a bar, students under 21 will not be able to attend.

A budget of $1,000 was approved for the event, during an Associated Students of COCC meeting on Feb. 18. While the event should cost around $800, the extra $200 was agreed upon “to be on the safe side,” said ASCOCC events coordinator John MacAuley.

Cascade Chorale Brief Cascade

Chorale is a community choir at Central Oregon Community College under the direction of James Knox. On Friday, March 11 and Saturday, March 12, Cascade Chorale will be performing a concert “Great Chorale Works.” The concert will include works by American composers, according to the Cascade Chorale website. The event is free to attend although donations are accepted.

On Sunday, February 27th from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. in Pence Hall, choral director James Knox will be conducting a lecture on the history of American Choral music. The concert and lecture are both intertwined to give audience members a chance to learn about American composers.
