Central Oregon is home to a variety of coffee shops, and Redmond has a new creation located in the heart of the small city’s downtown area. Junction Roastery and Social Club is in the historic Patrick’s Corner, opening in 2021. Since its grand opening,  it has been a place not just for getting coffee, but for good conversation and hospitality.

Owners and operators Bo Olson and Mitch Thisius started the build out in October of 2021. After the pandemic, the owners wanted to bring community and socialization together again. Thisius told The Broadside the meaning of the shop’s name.

“The meaning is about bringing everyone together… Like a railroad junction, where two tracks meet,” said Thisius.

Thisius also told The Broadside that they made sure to design their coffee shop with vast amounts of seating and areas for customers to work and hang out. He said that they also did all the interior design and the general contracting themselves.

Olson and Thisius both have owned restaurants and have plenty of hospitality backgrounds in restaurants, fine dining and bars. Thisius told The Broadside about both successfully owning restaurants during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We both gravitate towards coffee,” Thisius said. “This is our first venture together.”

The shop sits on the east side of the historic Patrick building on West Deschutes Avenue. across from the Redmond Police Department adjacent to Centennial Park. The building was once used as Redmond’s first medical facility in the 1940s.

Junction Coffee roasts all their beans in house providing different coffee beverages and drip teas to choose from. They also provide savory and sweet food options, like croissants, bagels and banana chocolate nut bread.

The coffee shop is open seven days a week, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more details, see their website at www.junctionroastery.com
