In Remembrance: Calvin Dale Perkins March 2, 1972 – Aug. 14, 2010, COCC Civil Engineering Student

Calvin is survived by his wife, Virginia Anissa Perkins, two stepchildren, and two grandchildren.

Calvin Dale Perkins was born on March 2, 1972 in Simi Valley, California. He passed in his home on Aug. 14, 2010. Calvin moved to Bend at 18 years old. Calvin spent a little over a year in the Marines at age 19. Like his father, Calvin was a professional in the glass industry.

“He [Calvin] forged his own path, because he did not want to follow in his fathers footsteps. So he became a professional painter,” said Anissa Perkins.

Calvin’s hobbies included golfing, mining, pool, bowling, archery, hunting, painting, and “he was a Texas hold em monger,” said Perkins. “If Calvin picked up anything, anything, he became extremely focused on that… he would never stop until he became perfect at it,” said Perkins.

Calvin and his wife were friends for 15 years, and had been married for three years.

“We were holding hands, it was the closing prayer when he just held my hand just a little bit longer… just because he held my hand for probably three seconds longer than he was supposed to,” recounted Anissa.

Anissa and Calvin were wed on July 7, 2007. The two spent their honeymoon in Hawaii.

Calvin was a student at COCC, studying civil engineering.

“His main goal and his main purpose in life was to succeed, and be happy with it,” said Perkins.

Calvin’s and his wife’s planned after college to help Louisiana residents, who are still having difficulty after hurricane Katrina.

“He loved us, I never felt like he didn’t love me,” said Anissa.
