Elevation restaurant entices students to dine fine

Tables covered with the fine linens, flickering candles, sweet hum of Jazz music and a crowd of hungry people all clamoring to be seated at one of the elegant tables describes Elevation restaurant during their Peak Hour special.

The seating is limited and guests are seated on a “first come first served” basis. Guests are seated and then walked once through a buffet-style spread, sampling dishes that appealed to them.

On Oct. 26, a mixed green salad, vegetable pasta milanese, roasted leg of lamb, mashed potatoes, and smoked salmon beignets
was offered as well as a wide assortment of wines and teas.

The salad was delicious with mixed greens and tomatoes and a light, fruity vinaigrette and the pasta had great flavor. The leg of lamb was subtly seasoned and very tender, but it was cold, despite the fact that we were the first in line to get food. The mashed
potatoes were fantastic, both a little chunky and creamy and lightly seasoned. Finally, the salmon beignets, which were salmon
and cheese wrapped in a deep fried dough, were quite enjoyable.

The tables and chairs could be set up differently to allow more space. Since they have just begun at this location, these small
issues are sure to be sorted out quickly.

Maybe $8 for happy hour feels steep for students, but there was romance— the music, lighting and a feeling of being out in
the wilderness when in fact it is located just behind the main campus.

Elevation is an ideal place for a date and a way to gather with friends, eat in fine style and support our culinary program.
