Central Oregon Community College (COCC) is offering four free credits to graduating high school students over the summer. Students who are graduating in 2022 can try out college this summer for no cost. Normally, students would have to pay $529, states COCC’s website.

This opportunity was created so high school graduates can jump-start their career. This program will help students gain knowledge for the workforce, transfer to a university, or start their educational journey at COCC.

Anyone who received a high school diploma from a public, private, or online high school in 2022, are eligible. homeschooled students and those who received a GED can take advantage of this opportunity too.

Anyone interested in this opportunity will have to complete the eligibility form (Qualtrics Survey | Qualtrics Experience Management) which requires a copy of their high school diploma, transcript, or GED, and it must be submitted to COCC by 5 p.m. on June 24th. For these new students, registration started April 25th. The summer term registration deadline is June 12th. Classes will start on June 21st.

“I think this is a great opportunity for high school graduates to try out college and explore different career paths without having to pay for it. They are able to figure out how to navigate college and try out different kinds of classes without that extra amount of stress on their shoulders,” said Kaiden Esparza, who is a graduating high school student.

If any high school graduates wish to take part in this program they will need to submit an application. The application fee is $25 and this is a one-time, lifetime, fee for the summer term. Students will also need to complete the required enrollment steps.

Some of the classes offered are remote but other classes are held in-person. If students need it, they can check out laptops and hotspots. This program includes both tuition and class fees.
