The Pinckney Center art gallery annual student show is currently exhibiting some thought-provoking student art pieces. The exhibit showcases the students’ hard work, creativity and energy.

The Pinckney Center art gallery annual student show is currently exhibiting some thought-provoking student art pieces. The exhibit showcases the students’ hard work, creativity and energy.
This show is juried and includes works in ceramics, jewelry, 2D and 3D design, sculpture, metal working, printmaking, painting, watercolor, drawing, and photography. The students are allowed to submit up to six pieces and compete for several awards, including the Faculty Purchase and the President’s Award.

College who has three paintings on exhibit.Aside from showcasing the students’ accomplishments, the exhibit also serves as a venue for students pursuing an art career to gain experience.
“This is a great opportunity for the art department to teach students professional skills,” said Bill Hoppe, director of the gallery.
Ceramics student Ryan Martyn, who has a vase titled “Bloom” on display at the exhibit, said that the student art show gives him encouragement to continue with his creative endeavors.

“Having the opportunity to have my work in the student show makes the experience of art school more personal,” he said.
Participating students were able to give their input on how the art would be displayed, so the pieces complement each other. Cooper said it’s exciting to see the beauty and energy of the pieces grouped together in one place.
“It’s thrilling to be a part of,” said Cooper.
