The Central Oregon Community College (COCC) intramural basketball league is returning for the Fall term, and eight teams have come together to compete for the championship. Some teams are newly formed, while others are returning from last season. All eight teams will face off once a week between 6 and 10 p.m. on Mondays in the Mazama Gymnasium . The championship game will take place Monday, Nov. 28 at 9 p.m.
Three weeks of games are already on the books. The first week had fewer exciting matchups, with two 20+ point blowouts and a forfeit among the results of the four games. The Blockers looked to be on their way to being the third team to get blown out, trailing 50-30 late to the defending champion Bucket Getters. However, a late spark led a comeback effort to get the lead down to six, before they ultimately fell short 55-49. Week two brought much more excitement with four consecutive games decided by six points or fewer. The Blockers and Ankle Breakers Anonymous both looked to get their first win to open the night, with the Ankle Breakers coming out on top in a narrow 3-point win. The Blockers are now the only team without a win this season.
