Cascade Chorale brings classical music to campus

The Broadside

For students who enjoy classical music, Cascade Chorale will be presenting its annual winter term concert at the First Presbyterian Church in Bend on Friday, March 2, at 7 p.m., and on Saturday, March 3, at 2 p.m.  Performance pieces range from Beethoven’s “Elegischer Gesang,” to more contemporary works, including Samuel Barber’s “Agnus Dei,” Ola Gjeilo’s “Sunrise Mass,” and Tarik O’ Regan’s “Triptych.”
Cascade Chorale is a community chorus and is part of Central Oregon Community College’s Bend music department.  Music professor James Know directs the group. The choir performs three concerts each year in December, March, and June, performing a variety of music from all genres and from all periods of choral music. The choir’s mission is to “provide an opportunity for talented vocalists to sing together and prepare a variety of enriching, enjoyable and educational concerts for the community,” according to Cascade Chorale’s website.
Tickets for the event are $10 and available the day of the concert at the door. They can be ordered online on the Cascade Chorale website at cascadechorale.org, or from a chorale member.
