Construction progresses on COCC’s new academic buildings

In order to accommodate the doubling of COCC’s enrollment since 2006, construction is progressing on several academic buildings in the district. The majority of the construction funding comes from a $41.58-million bond measure approved by voters in 2009 and state funding.

The following status report reflects progress through the end of March.

The structural concrete has been finished and the installation of the structural steel will continue for the next six to seven weeks. The building is on schedule to be completed by April 2012. General contractor: HSW Builders

Jungers Culinary Center: At the new home of the Cascade Culinary Institute, the college’s culinary instructional program, road and curb work continues, windows and doors are being installed, exterior wrap was installed and sheet rock installation has begun. Completion of the 15,000-square-foot facility near the intersection of Mount Washington and Shevlin Park Road is scheduled for late August this year. General contractor: HSW Builders
