Since John Butler roamed the dry and sunny streets of Fremantle, Australia as a street performer riding on the wing of fates’ grace, his music always shined through as his beacon of hope.
Now, after the release of his fifth full-length album, April Uprising, Butler has changed his stars and is now one of the most popular international artists in the world.
April Uprising, Butler’s newest album, features new trio members Nicky Bomba (drums and percussion) and Byron Luiters (bass) along with a new production approach.
The album has a different sound than Butler’s previous in the respect that it is over-produced, featuring a lot more effects and hip-hop beats.
The trio relies a lot more on musical attentiveness and clear sounds than original down-home rock n’ roll.
Sporting his trademark funky style of guitar playing and uniquely powerful singing voice, Butler can still put together an album that will be sure to send him into the next level of stardom.
The band has been selling out worldwide and now Butler has taken his writing to the next step following his experience with a television show in which he traced his ancestry back hundreds of years.
He describes his sound best on his website.
“I feel the sounds and general spirit and energy of this album are best summed up in the words – free, melodic, funky, phat and rocking,” Butler says.
John Butler is slowly changing the world’s view on international music one album at a time.
The band has visited Bend twice and plans on playing two shows in Portland at the end of May on their promotion tour of the new album release.
