An outstanding score of 33-10 was successfully won by the COCC Rugby club against U of O in Independence Oregon on Feb. 25th, their first official match for the Spring season.
“The game went very well all together, we had the veterans playing great and leading the pack, while all the rookies were shattering expectations for their first game, even getting on the scoreboard,” freshman, Colton Liebelt explained.
“When we have all 15 guys firing on all cylinders we are a dangerous team in this league,”said Liebelt.
Several highlights during the game included, Cole Negi, freshman, scored a few points due to his impressive kicks, and Trevor Thompson, junior, had some good decision making skills during the game with the ball that contributed to their win as well.
“There were a ton of plays that stood out to me, one was the strong run by Luke Wagner, freshman, with his first carry in a game, which eventually turned into a try. Another was consistent defensive plays by Zach Ferguson, sophomore, and Caleb Rauch, sophomore.
Spring season is already off to a more successful start than their fall season. “When all players play with that much intensity, we will be the team to beat around the league” Liebelt said.
The Bobcats next game will be held in Ashland on March 4th.
